Sean's long term prognosis is very
good. The AVMs in Sean's lungs should start to disappear now that his
liver blood is being directed to his lungs. His oxygen saturations which are
currently in the high 80s should continue to rise as the AVMs disappear and
his body heals from surgery. There are some medical studies that show people with a one ventricle heart can develop heart failure in 20 to 30 years. The heart starts to give out due to performing in an abnormal way. At that time, he would need a heart transplant. We will take those chances and the 20 to 30 years of life and medical advances that will happen along the way. In the mean time, we will enjoy our miracle baby. He has no real limitations. He won't be MVP of the SuperBowl, but he swims, takes gymnastics, and runs after his two older sisters. What more could we ask for?
